I wanted the logo to reflect Havana's Afro-Cuban influences and incorporate the bold flowy movement one does when dancing the rumba, a dance that originated in urban Havana and was once synonymous to the word party. The triangular shape in the second logo exploration represents the three districts of Havana which are Old Havana, Vedado, and the newer suburban districts. The triangle is divided into 15 representing Cuba’s 15 provinces. The third logo reflects Havana’s optimal location for trade and how it was known as the gateway to the New World in the 16th century. The flower on top of the arch is Cuba's national flower, the white ginger.
